With Modrić, Kroos and Casemiro getting older, the champions of Europe are looking for more young midfielders to play alongside Valverde and Camavinga in the midfield in the future. This is why they are about to sign Tchouaméni from AS Monaco. They are set to pay €100 million for him. The verbal agreement was for him to join for 5 years. PSG and Liverpool were in the race to sign him but it seems Real Madrid will instead.
Tchouaméni had an amazing season, but Monaco were unable to finish above 3rd in the Ligue 1. They failed to win their Champions League qualifiers this season, and were knocked out of the UEFA Europa League in the Round of 16. This may have made the French midfielder more inclined towards a move to Real Madrid.
