Liverpool have bid €80 million plus bonuses to sign Darwin Núñez from Benfica. It seems likely that the deal will be for 5 years.
The Uruguayan has had an amazing season with Benfica. He was top scorer in the Portuguese league, with 26 goals. He even scored 6 in the UEFA Champions League. Although they had a good run in Europe, making it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, they were unable to finish above 3rd in the Primeira Liga.
Liverpool had a good season, winning the FA and Carabao Cups, but finished 2nd in the Premier League and runners-up in the Champions League. However, with Mané wanting to leave, they are looking to sign Núñez to fill the gap Mané’s departure will leave in the attack.
