Henrikh Mkhitaryan likely to leave Roma to join Inter Milan

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is about to transfer to Inter Milan for free. Although Roma offered to extend the contract, Mkhitaryan declined it, reportedly because of his desire to play Champions League football. Inter have not yet made an official statement, but the agreement is complete.

Fabrizio Romano:

“Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s set to join Inter on a free transfer, here we go soon. Mkhitaryan has decided to turn down AS Roma proposal to extend the contract.”
“Inter were just waiting for the final green light – Mkhitaryan has just communicated that he will leave Roma.”
“More on Henrikh Mkhitaryan deal. He’s set to sign a two-year contract with Inter, he wanted Champions League football so he decided to refuse AS Roma proposal.”
“Deal completed, medical tests and official statement pending. Here we go.”

Even though Mkhitaryan was one of the Roma players who made history by winning the first ever UEFA Europa Conference League this season, Inter finished 2nd in the Serie A, making it to the Champions League, whereas Roma finished 6th, putting them in a Europa League spot.

The Armenian has not had a season to remember, finishing the Serie A with only 5 goals and 6 assists. He is going to be looking to improve at Inter, and play in the Champions League.
