FC Schalke 04 Bundesliga 2020/2021 season recap

(Re-uploaded in 2024 due to a website reset in 2022, resulting in old posts being deleted)

FC Schalke 04 were relegated from the Bundesliga in 1988, and were promoted back in 1992, after they won the 2nd division of professional German football in 1991. They have been playing in the Bundesliga (the first division of professional German football) ever since.

However, Schalke, unfortunately, are at the bottom of the Bundesliga table after 30 games this season. It is impossible for them to escape relegation. In fact, it is impossible for them to even escape last place in the Bundesliga this season.

Their season started off poorly, with an 8-0 defeat to FC Bayern Munich. It did not get much better for them from there, as they now have only 2 wins and 7 draws. Schalke have been amazing in the Bundesliga throughout the previous few seasons, coming 2nd in 2017-18, and it is sad for fans to see such a great team relegated.

One reason for Schalke’s poor form this season may be the number of managers they have had. They have had more managers this season (5) than games won in the Bundesliga (2) so far. Their manager is currently Dimitrios Grammozis. The 4 other managers that they had this season are David Wagner, Manuel Baum, Huub Stevens and Christian Gross.

Schalke’s player with the most assists, and arguably their best player in the Bundesliga this season, is Amine Harit. He scored 1 goal and gave 5 assists, making 24 appearances for his team.
