Phil Foden scores hat-trick in Manchester City win

Manchester City took on Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium in matchday 31. The fixture was a tough one, with Manchester City 3rd in the table and Aston Villa just one place behind them. A loss for City would put them in a difficult position in the title race against Liverpool and Arsenal, while a loss of Aston Villa would leave Tottenham Hotspur only 2 points behind them with a game in hand, thus putting their hopes of playing in the Champions League next season in jeopardy.

Though Rodri opened the scoring for City in the 11th minute, The Lions equalised just 9 minutes later. However, what followed was nothing short of special. Phil Foden gave the lead back to city just before half time, and scored 2 more in the 62nd and the 69th minute. The 23 year olds hat-trick secured the win for City. The match ended 4-1, and the young star kept City’s title hopes alive with his stellar performance. Villa, on the other hand, are barely hanging on to their spot in the top 4 after the loss, with Tottenham catching up to them.
