Real Madrid Champions Of Europe Once Again

Real Madrid have beaten Borussia Dortmund in the final of the UEFA Champions League, becoming European Champions for the 15th time. This game was an emotional one for two German midfielders, icons Toni Kross and Marco Reus. In the last club match of his career, Toni Kroos got his fairytale ending, winning his 6th Champions League. For Marco Reus, however, his last match for Borussia Dortmund ended in heartbreak, as he will not be renewing his contract and will leave Dortmund without a league or European title. However, this is not reflective of the amazing career he has had, building up a large fanbase due to his fantastic playmaking as well as his loyalty to his club.

The match started with Dortmund dominating the first half, with two incredibly close chances that were unlucky not to end up in the back of the net. Despite the constant attempts on goal, the half ended without a goal scored.

With the very start of the second half, however, Real Madrid looked like a completely different team. They were dominating the possession and making attempts on goal. Their breakthrough finally came in the 74th minute, with Dani Carvajal scoring a header from an exceptional corner from Toni Kroos himself.

The game was sealed 9 minutes later, when a sloppy pass from Dortmund’s Ian Maatsen resulted in an interception from Jude Bellingham. He then passed it to Vinicius Jr., who found the back of the net with ease.

Though Dortmund fans had a moment of short-lived hope from a goal by Fullkrug in the 87th minute, it was ruled offside and the game ended 2-0 in favour of Los Blancos.

Heartbreak for the Yellow Wall, delight for Madridstas. Though fans all around the world will feel sympathy for Marco Reus, Toni Kroos got his fairytale ending with his beloved club, and Los Blancs won their 15th Champions League.
